Looking forward to increasing awareness of Sanya’s tourism potential, director of sales and marketing, Kempinski Hotel Haitang Bay Sanya, Prin Pathanatham speaks to Natalie Hami about what segments the property will be enticing this year.

TTG: What segments of the tourism industry will your business be focusing on this year and how?

We will continually develop the MICE segment in 2015 together with Sanya Tourism to increase awareness of Haitang Bay, Sanya as a high-end MICE destination among the domestic market.

TTG: What projects concerning travel and tourism are underway currently in China?

Sanya has been expanded rapidly as an upscale holiday beach destination.

In 2014, we opened a new duty free CDF (China Duty Free) shopping mall on Haitang Bay which is one of the bigger duty free complexes on the beach.

TTG: How is your business appealing to the Middle Eastern market and how are you looking to improve your product for this unique market?

With market understanding, we will provide prayer mats and a no pork menu on the breakfast as well as food ingredient signage on our menu.

TTG: Why are Middle Eastern travellers visiting China?

Sanya is a nice beach city which is easy to connect with from various major cities. The destination is perfectly suited for families and couples with many outdoor sightseeing [attractions] in addition to land and ocean adventures.

TTG: Tell us about your latest and most exciting news.

Kempinski Hotel Haitant Bay Sanya has been creating many new activities and programmes to Sanya.

Recently, we started a new experience by offering a helicopter sightseeing programme to provide guests with a bird’s eyes view experience on Sanya and the island nearby
