Marriott International opens first hotel in Sochi, Russia

The five-star Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana Hotel has opened at the heart of the new Gorky Gorod ski resort in Krasnaya Polyana, at the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains.

An affiliate of US-based Interstate Hotels & Resorts, the new property is located half an hour by express train from Sochi Airport and sits next to a new state-of-the-art convention centre.

“We are very proud to open the first Marriott hotel in Sochi and be part of the development of the region, which will continue in 2014 and beyond,” commented president - Europe, Marriott International, Amy McPherson.

Spread over seven floors, the hotel’s 428 rooms and suites come complete with complimentary internet and plasma TV with satellite reception.

The River Café, the hotel’s centrepiece restaurant, serves international cuisine with European, American, Russian and Asian influences, while Italian pastas, risottos and pizzas are served at l'Olivio restaurant.

One of the largest in the region, the SOUL spa is spread across 2,000m2 and houses nine treatment rooms, including private spa suites, where guests can personalise their experience by choosing between the four elements: earth, air, fire and water.

The range of services extends from traditional massages and treatments to a unique snow shower, where guests can enjoy hydro massage, aromatherapy, Turkish bath and Finnish sauna.

Private landscaped grounds face the mountains and boast a complex of indoor and outdoor pools.
The hotel also caters to family holidays thanks to its kids club, children's menus, special swimming and play zones, and entertainment complexes for younger guests.

In addition, the nearby Gorky Gorod entertainment centre features a water park complete with natural sandy beach, cinema, bowling alley, restaurants and cafés, shops and exclusive boutiques.

Area general manager, Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Krasnaya Polyana, Markus Schmidt enthused: “This hotel will offer an extraordinary experience to all guests due to its location and the sheer number and quality of services and facilities it offers.

“The experience of Interstate Hotels & Resorts and its highly skilled associates combined with the unique local culture will ensure that our guests will enjoy their time with us.”
