Millennium Airport Hotel appoints new executive chef

Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai has announced of the appointment of Winfried Helmetag to Executive Chef for the hotel, with the hope that Helmetag’s culinary experience will give a direction to all the hotel’s current and planned F&B outlets.
Helmetag, a German national, has spent more than 20 years in the Middle East, ten of those years based in the UAE, from hotels in Ajman to Abu Dhabi. His career in the Arab world began in Cairo in 1980, followed by jobs in Bahrain and Jordan, one of those years working as a personal chef for King Abdullah II.
For the last seven years Helmetag has worked as Executive Chef for two Kempinski Hotels in the UAE. His also spent periods working in Scotland, London, Cyprus and Moscow.
Chef Winfried said: “The restaurants here are already popular, and some would even qualify as Dubai institutions with the people coming back year after year. This creates an exciting challenge. Looking ahead, we want to keep our loyal patrons happy, but go above and beyond what they have come to expect and this takes a change in attitude. We need to keep pushing the boundaries.”
“I am very interested in healthy food, and I look forward to introducing new, healthy options in all our menus. The Millennium & Copthorne group initiative of creating healthy, balanced meals suitable for diabetics as well as our health conscious guests is inspiring, and I look forward to taking it to the next level in the hotel,” he continued.
