Newly appointed general manager at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea, Peter Hoesli, has revealed his pleasure at taking up this latest post with the renowned Swiss hotelier.
When he was a teenager, Hoesli was fascinated by the glamour of Switzerland’s famous grand hotels and he describes his achievement of gaining an apprenticeship at the iconic Bellevue-Palace, Berne as a being a dream come true.
Today, the dream continues. He still works for a Swiss company and he still works for world-renowned hotels, but the former Bellevue trainee cook has recently been promoted to the position of general manager of
Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea and the company’s regional manager, Jordan.
The new role puts him in charge of all five Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Jordan including the award-winning Dead Sea resort and two hotels in both Petra and Aqaba and marks the zenith of a 32-year career in hospitality.
“Even when I was a boy, I never imagined doing anything else except hotels,” stated Hoesli.
Developing the potential of the Dead Sea property with an extensive room-renovation is now among Hoesli’s newest responsibilities, but he added that he relishes the challenge of expanding the dynamic synergies between all of Mövenpick’s properties in Jordan.
“The fact that I am not only general manager of one of the most magnificent resorts in Jordan but also regional manager for the country’s five Mövenpick properties is an extremely exciting challenge,” he continued.
“I thoroughly enjoy my role and I’m positive that with the help of the hotels’ capable teams, the company will continue to build on its success in Jordan.”
Hoesli joined Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in 1998 and prior to his new role had been general manager of the Mövenpick Resort & Residences Aqaba after managing the company’s two hotels in Petra where he achieved considerable success even during challenging economic times.
“I have always found Jordanian people to be very fun, warm and hospitable,” Hoesli said.
“The country is full of marvellous places and this makes it a great place to live as well as a real world-class destination for discerning travellers.”
Before overseeing Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Jordan, Hoesli ran the company’s Cairo-Heliopolis property in Egypt and was the pre-opening general manager of the Mövenpick Hotel Ramallah.
“Being with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is like being a member of a close family, rather than a number, and that is very appealing to me,” he said.
Since leaving the grand dame hotels of Switzerland, Hoesli has worked in seven countries on four continents including key positions in Malaysia, Thailand, Bermuda and Switzerland.
