Abu Dhabi delegation ready for ITB Berlin 2019

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) is sending a delegation of 48 hotels, attractions, tour operators and DMCs to this year’s ITB Berlin, which kicks off on March 6 and concludes on March 10, 2019.

The delegation will promote the UAE capital’s impressive tourism portfolio, while also working to build on the record numbers of visitors to Abu Dhabi, which stood at over 10 million in 2018.

Adding to this, DCT Abu Dhabi will strongly promote the Special Olympics World Games, taking place between March 14-21 in Abu Dhabi.

At ITB Berlin, the UAE Embassy in Germany will host a special reception event at the Abu Dhabi pavilion on the opening day. On the second day, the DCT Abu Dhabi stand will host the Golden City Gate Awards, as well as the annual ‘Touristik PR & Medien Award 2019’, organised by SRT – a publishing house that publishes the yearly handbooks ‘Touristik PR’ and ‘Touristik Media’. The awards ceremony, attended by the UAE’s Ambassador to Germany, HE Ali Abdulla Al Ahmed, will hand out accolades for ‘Best Tourism PR Agency’, ‘Best Tourism Board’, ‘Best Travel Blog’, ‘Best Travel Editorial Office’ and ‘Best Travel Journalist’.

Destination marketing director of the marketing and communications department, DCT Abu Dhabi, Saeed Rashed Al Saeed commented: “ITB Berlin is a key global conference which we have been proud to attend since 2005. Our continued participation demonstrates our wish to showcase the remarkable culture and tourism offering of Abu Dhabi with the world, which is particularly important in this, the Year of Tolerance, as we look to communicate between peoples of different cultures. This demonstrates DCT Abu Dhabi’s continued relevance on the global stage, as we promote the Emirate as an extraordinary destination worldwide.”

Attending this year’s ITB Berlin will be representatives from Etihad Airways, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Yas Experience Hub, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The Abu Dhabi stand will comprise approximately 37 hotels, including Jumeirah Al Wathba, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island, Fairmont Marina and Abu Dhabi Edition, plus many more.
