Abu Dhabi has been proclaimed one of the most popular destinations for this summer by Gold Medal, a leading UK travel company, following a remarkable upsurge in demand from British holidaymakers visiting the UAE.
Gold Medal offers a range of online travel services and products such as airfares, hotel reservations and car rental to travel agents. The travel consolidator has reported a ground-breaking 294 per cent rise on the previous year in forward 2017 summer holiday bookings from the UK to Abu Dhabi.
The emirate’s flagship carrier, Etihad Airways, offers five weekly flights from Edinburgh, two daily flights from Manchester and three daily flights from London Heathrow to its Abu Dhabi hub.
General manager UK, Etihad Airways, James Harrison stated: “We are very pleased that Abu Dhabi is proving so popular with British travellers. The tourist appeal of the city goes from strength to strength, as this strong data shows, and increasing numbers of visitors are being drawn by its appeal as a year-round holiday destination.”
The airline is set to host a large familiarisation visit to the emirate in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA) in September, where British travel agents will have the opportunity to experience Abu Dhabi’s stunning cultural attractions, beaches, sports facilities and excellent hospitality.
