Marking the start of a new era, AccorHotels has officially acquired Mövenpick, following the purchase of 100 per cent of the share capital of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts.
AccorHotels now takes complete ownership of the Mövenpick brand and all activities related to the hospitality business. It has become the largest operator by room number in the Middle East and Africa with a committed network (operational and pipeline) of over 400 hotels.
This game-changing news highlights AccorHotels’ ambition to strengthen its position and consolidate its leadership, as well as to leverage growth.
Following the acquisition, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ 84 properties, collectively contributing over 20,000 rooms, will now join AccorHotels’ portfolio of more than 4,500 hotels, resorts and residences, as well as 10,000 private homes.
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ properties are expected to fill the current gap between AccorHotels’ midscale Mercure and Novotel brands and the upper upscale Swissotel, Pullman and MGallery brands. The hotels will benefit from AccorHotels’ loyalty programme, distribution channels and operating systems.
