Online travel agency, Agoda, and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah recently formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in support of the Saudi Vision 2030’s goal to welcome more than 30 million pilgrims by the year 2030.
Following this alliance, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will make use of Agoda’s technology and travel expertise, as well as its marketing platform capabilities, intelligence tools and resources.
The MoU was inked by Saudi minister of Hajj and Umrah, HE Dr Mohammad Saleh bin Taher Benten, in the presence of vice president strategic partnerships and programmes, Agoda, Damien Pfirsch, during an official ceremony at the office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
Religious travellers wishing to visit the KSA can now utilise a dedicated Agoda portal to gain access to specific hotels that have been certified by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for Umrah visitors and pilgrims. Pilgrims will be presented with a number of accommodation options and will be able to securely book through the multilingual and multi-currency portal.
The new partnership between Agoda and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will also further work to redefine the future of travel for pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia.
CEO, Agoda, John Brown enthused on the development: “We are proud and honoured to have been selected by the Ministry to provide our best-in-class technology solutions as they strive to implement their 2030 vision. With Agoda’s expertise in accommodation and travel services, global distribution services, e-marketing and digital branding we want to be a key partner helping them to achieve their goals of accommodating 30 million Umrah and Hajj guests to the Kingdom.”
