Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas is marking its grand debut in North Africa this month, with the opening of the highly luxurious Anantara Tozeur Resort in Tunisia.
The new-build resort, which is sure to charm guests with its Arabian and North African design, is surrounded by the desert, towering palms and salt lakes. As well as 93 beautifully designed accommodation options, including Deluxe Sahara View Rooms, one- and two-bedroom villas and pool villas, Anantara Tozeur Resort also houses five dining outlets, an Arabian Cultural Village, an Anantara Spa with six treatment rooms and a hammam, a Kids’ Club, floodlit tennis courts and a fitness club with a yoga studio.
Thrilled with the launch, CEO, Minor Hotels (the parent company of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas), Dillip Rajakarier said: “We are so proud to debut our luxury Anantara brand in North Africa with the launch of this spectacular resort in the desert in Tunisia. Anantara Tozeur is truly a world-class resort and will bring new levels of Arabian hospitality and luxury to this stunning country.”
The new luxury property stands just 15 minutes from Nefta International Airport.
It is the ideal option for travellers wishing to connect with Tunisia’s local culture and history, and offers tailored excursions to Tozeur’s Medina. Visitors can also opt to take a traditional horse and carriage to one of the verdant palm groves to taste the queen of all dates, Deglet Nou, or travel out of the city to the abandoned 14th century Berber villages of Chebika, Tamerza and Mides, which are north of Tozeur.
Other experiences include exploring the Sahara Desert in a luxurious 4×4 vehicle; driving through expansive desert scenery on a guided quad bike adventure to Chott el Djerid, the largest salt lake in the Sahara Desert; and embarking on a camel trekking adventure through desert plains and palm oases.
Meanwhile, for avid fans of Star Wars, Tozeur is home to numerous scenes from the original trilogy and prequels, with special programmes available for guests.
