The recently concluded Arabian Travel Market 2017 (ATM) welcomed a 10 per cent jump in GCC visitors as well as a seven per cent rise in international visitors, while the total number of visitor numbers exceeded the 28,000 mark for the second consecutive year.
Senior exhibition director, ATM, Simon Press enthused: “The continued growth of ATM is testament to the strength of the travel and tourism industry in the Middle East. The event has also built on its quality year-on-year and the professionalism of exhibitors and stands not only increases the brand value of their own organisation, but also that of ATM.”
Press shared that exhibition stand contracts signed during this year’s event for next year are up 38 per cent year-on-year.
With ATM growing from strength to strength each year, it comes as no surprise that the 2017 edition, which ran with an experiential travel theme, comprised an additional hall, with 466 main stand holders representing 87 countries and over 100 new exhibitors marking their debut. The number of countries represented at ATM 2017 totaled 157.
Moving on, this year’s event featured an impressive variety of informative discussions, forums and seminars, including a talk on the legacy of Expo2020; the UNWTO & ATM Ministerial Forum; the Halal Travel Summit seminar sessions; discussions concerning aviation; and much more.
Meanwhile, other popular features included the Wellness and Spa Lounge; Travel Agents’ Academy; Buyers’ Club; and the Bloggers’ Speed Networking events.
Press decalred: “What we have done is followed the market trends in the region and also listened closely to what our exhibitors want. The show is designed with content in mind and I think this year we were able to fully explore our theme of experiential travel, while also covering the hot topics in the industry.”
The 2017 edition of ATM welcomed the return of the ATM Best Stand Awards, with exhibitors such as Etihad Airways, Amadeus, Kerzner International Resorts, Al Rais Tours and Holidays and Jetclass gaining recognition.
Responsible tourism, an integral part of the show, has appropriately been named the theme for 2018 edition of ATM.
