Spanish hospitality holdings giant, Barceló Hotel Group, is keenly eyeing the Middle East market, and more notably, the UAE, for expansion.

President, Barceló Hotel Group, Simón Pedro Barceló shed some light on this: “The UAE is renowned for its grand luxury hotels. According to the MasterCard Index of Global Destination Cities, in 2017 Dubai was ranked fourth in terms of foreign tourists, with 16 million visitors, a number that is expected to reach 20 million in 2020.”

He continued: “This insight coupled with the country’s favouring of the middle to high-end segment of tourism, an area in which Barceló has an abundance of experience, makes the country an ideal candidate for the brand’s growth plan.”

The family run company is currently renovating Occidental Sharjah Grand and has one property, Barceló Residences Dubai Marina, in operation. The latter is home to 220 apartments and modern facilities, and grants visitors plenty of space.

CEO, Barceló Hotel Group, Raúl Gonzále declared: “We are currently negotiating and looking forward to signing contracts for eight hotels in the emirates between now and the end of 2018. We are seeing that the Barceló Hotel Group is being widely welcomed, along with its hotel brands, thanks to the group’s values, its flexible and personalised approach to the goals it sets.”

This year, the hospitality group will inaugurate two four-star Occidental hotels in the UAE, which specifically target business travellers and collectively contribute 239 rooms to the country’s room count. Standing in IMPZ (International Media Production Zone), a corporate hub of Dubai in close proximity to Al Maktoum International Airport, both hotels will boast numerous conference and meeting rooms.

Adding to this, a third Barceló hotel is currently under construction and will be located in the new Al Jadaf quarter, a financial hub in Dubai.

Barceló Hotel Group is world-renowned for its high-quality, modern services and facilities. The group is made up of four primary brands: Royal Hideaway Luxury Hotels & Resorts, Barceló Hotels & Resorts, Occidental Hotels & Resorts and Allegro Hotels, and has more than 85 years of industry experience.
