Eager to ensure all guests feel at ease, Best Western Hotels & Resorts (BWHR) has enforced its I Care Clean programme, which was developed through a partnership with innovation and design firm, IDEO.
The initiative required BWHR’s hotels to focus on commonly touched items, such as TV remotes plus more, that can be disinfected and sterilised.
As soon as the COVID-19 pandemic struck, BWHR immediately rolled out enhanced cleaning protocols and breakfast standards. The We Care Cleam programme ensures an even higher level of cleaning standards and operational best practices at properties. It is based on guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Health Canada, and addresses everything from guest room and common area cleanliness, to streamlined processes that minimise contact between guests and associates. The programme is set to be updated on a regular basis to adhere to the latest standards and recommendations by experts.
President and CEO, BWHR, David Kong declared: “The We Care Clean programme is the latest example of our commitment to our guests and associates. We have always been an industry leader in our reputation for providing clean, well-maintained accommodations for travellers and we recognise that hygiene and cleanliness have never been more important. With the We Care Clean programme, we are proud to provide a safe and clean home away from home for our guests when the time comes to travel again.”
As well as social distancing floor stickers and front desk partitions at properties, the We Care Clean programme focuses on five key areas: Front Desk and Lobby; Guest Rooms and Housekeeping; Temporary Breakfast Offerings; Public Amenities; and Hotel Employees and Staff Requirements.
