British Airways recently marked its very first direct flight from London Heathrow to Muscat International.
In light of the occasion, Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) held a welcome ceremony, which was attended by Acting Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs, HE Mohammed bin Awadh Al Hassan; British Ambassador in Oman, HE Jonathan Wilks; CEO, OAMC, Aimen bin Ahmed Al-Hosni; and commercial manager – UAE, Iran, Oman, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan, Anjulika Dutton.
Al-Hosni highlighted that the new direct flights will connect Muscat International to London Heathrow’s Terminal 5. He additionally shed light on the significance of these services to UK nationals living in Oman and declared that the UK is one of Oman’s most important inbound tourism markets.
Al-Hosni added that the UK is attracting businessmen, investors and students from Oman, all of whom frequently travel between Muscat and London.
Under the terms of the agreement with Muscat International Airport, the direct service will be operated by British Airways’ Boeing 777 five times a week.
