Mark Powers has assumed the position of group chief financial officer at Etihad Aviation Group (EAG).
Joining this month, Powers will now hold responsibility for the finance functions across the group’s five divisions: Etihad Airways, Etihad Airways Engineering, Etihad Airport Services, Hala Group and Airline Equity Partners.
He joins EAG from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business, where he worked as a Professor of Finance. Throughout his career, he has held a number of senior leadership positions at major airlines including JetBlue, where he worked at chief financial officer.
Other notable airlines include Northwest Airlines, where he held the position of vice president treasury, corporate finance; Continental Airlines, where he was Treasurer and associate general counsel; and GE Aviation, where he worked as the director customer finance and commercial engine programmes.
