Copthorne Kuwait City Hotel shows off culinary excellence at HORECA Kuwait

During this year’s HORECA Kuwait exhibition, which took place from January 14-16, Copthorne Kuwait City Hotel scooped eight prestigious accolades in the Hospitality Salon Culinaire contest.

The contest entailed live cooking competitions. With the guidance of executive chef, Copthorne Kuwait City Hotel, Hossam Salah, the property’s culinary team acquired three medals – one gold medal and two silver medals – and five merit medals.

Sous chef, Sam Niroshan, was awarded one Gold Medal in the ‘Cold Canapes’ category and two silver medals in the ‘Six Course Set Dinner Menu’ and ‘Cold or Hot Sandwich Challenge’ categories.

The hotel’s culinary team was also honoured with five merit medals: senior chef de parti, Morshed Matior, won the ‘Three Plated Dessert Presentation’; demi chef, Chaminda Jayalal, won in both the ‘Best Burger’ and ‘Jack Creek Steak Challenge’ categories; Commis II, Sajith Iakshan, won the ‘Chocolate Carving’ category; and demi chef, Biswajith Shel, won the ‘Mystery basket’ category.

Taking part in regional competitions reflects our dedication to achieving excellence in our work. HORECA Kuwait takes place every year and is considered the biggest hospitality and food industry event in the country.
