Costa Navarino welcomes new flights to Kalamata

TEMES, developers of Greece’s upmarket resort destination of Costa Navarino has revealed that nine new direct flights and two new airlines have been welcomed at Kalamata International Airport ‘Captain Vasilis Constantacopoulos’, attracting even more European travellers and increasing accessibility to the destination of Messinia.

The new flights will commence in April 2016 thus:

British Airways will serve the destination with two flights a week offering a route to London Heathrow every Thursday and Saturday.

Vueling will fly to the destination from Rome Fiumicino, every Friday.

Additionally, Aegean Airlines will offer travellers six new flights this year from, Copenhagen (Mondays), Billund in Denmark (Mondays), Paris (Tuesdays), Lyon (Tuesdays), Milan (Tuesdays), and Nantes in France (Saturdays).

The projected increase in arrivals for 2016 compared with 2015 is expected to approach 28 per cent. The combined increase of international flights from 2010 (before Costa Navarino commenced operations) to the present will exceed 218 per cent.

The new flights are expected to bring an extra 25,000 visitors to Peloponnese as a whole. In conjunction, the immediate income from the increase in visitors to the destination in 2016 is expected to be $19.2 million.

TEMES collaborated with the Peloponnese Periphery to attract the interest of international airlines, which will increase access to Kalamata International Airport.

The new flights and continued target to attract further connections defines Kalamata International Airport as one of the fastest developing airports in Europe and an important gateway to European residents.
