The month of July proved fruitful for Cyprus in terms of tourist arrivals, with 539,626 visitors recorded during the month compared to the 531,030 recorded in July 2017.
This 1.6 per cent jump in arrivals marked a new record, with July 2018 recording the highest volume of tourist arrivals to date in Cyprus during the specific month.
From January to July 2018, tourist arrivals hit 2,184,775 compared to 1,994,236 in the corresponding period of 2017, marking a 9.6 per cent rise in numbers.
With regards to markets, arrivals from Sweden increased by 15 per cent in July 2018 compared to last year, and tourists from Lebanon jumped by 15.9 per cent.
The UK market continued to represent the main source of tourism for Cyprus for July 2018, with a proportion of 32.4 per cent, while the Russian market contributed 22.5 per cent of total arrivals.
In July of this year, 87.7 per cent of tourists were visiting Cyprus for holidays; 9.8 per cent were visiting friends and relatives; and 2.5 per cent of travellers were visiting for business purposes.
