Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) has announced that following excellent results in terms of tourism arrivals in 2015, the year ended on a positive note from a revenue point of view, with December witnessing an impressive increase, as well as 2015 as a whole.
More specifically, according to official data released by the Republic of Cyprus’ Statistical Service, tourism revenues for December 2015 amounted to $57.25 million, and compared to the same period in 2014, this translates to a rise of 20.4 per cent.
Total tourism revenues from the industry in 2015 (January 2015 – December 2015) totalled $2.3 billion in comparison to $2.2 billion – the total tourism income for 2014. This represents a rise of 4.4 per cent.
According to CTO, these results are of great importance in light of the difficulties the industry faced in 2015, in particular with the Russian market and the continuous political and economic developments.
