The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) recently visited London to attend the invitation-only UFI Global CEO Summit (GCS) 2019.
The event was organised by UFI, a global association that represents leading tradeshow organisers, fairground owners, major national and international exhibition associations, as well as selected partners of the exhibition industry. UFI directly represents about 50,000 exhibition industry employees around the world, and also collaborates with 52 national and regional association members. Some 783-member organisations in 88 countries and regions are signed up as members.
Commenting on the event was undersecretary, DCT Abu Dhabi, HE Saif Saeed Ghobash: “GCS presented a unique knowledge-sharing opportunity. Although this was an exciting prospect, the atmosphere was very relaxed and not overly charged, which was a welcome change from some of the conferences and events we attend, as it created a truly conducive environment for the exchange of opinions among decision makers from all over the globe.”
The GCS comprised of top-level content, dialogues and idea-sharing, with over 100 organisations in attendance, including ADNEC, Brussels Expo, Hamburg Messe, Zagreb Fair, the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Singapore Tourism Board.
Group CEO, ADNEC, Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri declared: “This event presents a great opportunity to promote Abu Dhabi as the ideal business tourism destination in our region. GCS never disappoints when it comes to addressing the industry’s issues. It also gave us the chance to hear from our peers about the ways they deal with the challenges our sector faces and solutions they are implementing or planning to implement at their facilities.”
DCT Abu Dhabi attended GCS to highlight the UAE capital city’s commitment to enhancing the UAE’s MICE industry.
