The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) successfully participated in the inaugural edition of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) Virtual, which took place from June 1-3, 2020.
Joining DCT Abu Dhabi were 71 of Abu Dhabi’s tourism movers and shakers, including the Department of Health, Experience Hub and Nirvana Travel and Tourism. The tourism authority utilised the innovative platform to connect with industry stakeholders and discuss opportunities to promote the tourism sector, despite the current pandemic.
Executive director of tourism and marketing, DCT Abu Dhabi, HE Ali Hassan Al Shaiba commented: “As we look forward to the next chapter of global travel, our strategy to gradually uplift the tourism sector becomes our main point of focus. Over the past period, our team has worked around the clock to identify opportunities and respond to the challenges arising within the industry. This has led to the development of a number of initiatives that we believe will help enliven the tourism sector whilst ensuring the health and safety of our residents and visitors.
“The ATM virtual event was a brilliant platform that provided us with an opportunity to gain key insights and connect with industry professionals to help us expand our offerings and viable responses to the current situation,” Al Shaiba added.
DCT Abu Dhabi’s participation in ATM virtual forms part of its plan to revitalise the tourism industry and support partners, while also uplifting consumer confidence locally and internationally.
Special initiatives include the launch of the virtual infotainment platform #StayCurious, the Abu Dhabi Specialists Programme, which aims to train and educate tourism industry professionals worldwide on the destination’s offerings, and the Clean and Safe Certificate Programme, which aims to boost the standard of hygiene and cleanliness at venues and destinations spanning the UAE capital.
