Developments at Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea & Kempinski Hotel Aqaba Red Sea

Sebastien Mariette

TTG recently caught up with the newly promoted cluster general manager of Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea and Kempinski Hotel Aqaba Red Sea, Sebastien Mariette to uncover the game-changing developments at both hotels.

Despite certain challenges, including a tough business environment, Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea acquired a handful of awards last year, including the title ‘Jordan’s Best Hotel Spa 2016’ at the World Spa Awards and the Gold Trophy at Jordan Tourism Award 2016, among many others.

Mariette shared with TTG that the high-end property is gearing up for a facelift: “Starting this year, we have plans to renovate our Ishtar village rooms, suites and Royal Villas to maintain our highest luxury standards throughout the hotel and offer SMART services to our guests via high-tech systems such as a new IPTV system and upgrading our kids’ club to develop our little guests experience in the hotel.”

These upcoming changes, according to Mariette, complement recently completed projects in various areas of the hotel, such as the installation of state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, the upgrading of WiFi services, the renovation of all kitchens and more.

Moving on to the Kempinski Hotel Aqaba Red Sea, significant changes have also been taking place at this property.

“We implemented new developments plans at Kempinski Aqaba Red Sea to ensure that we always reflect our luxury image to our guests. We recently started with a soft renovation project in our rooms and suites, dedicated to transforming our bright and spacious rooms into an awe-inspiring and luxurious accommodation experience.”

Mariette explained that the hotel’s restaurants and lounges have recently launched new F&B concepts, including themed nights, seafood specialities served on the shores of the Red Sea, BBQs by the sea and much more. He added that the property’s beach area is being upgraded to offer guests added comfort.

Speaking on a corporate level, he told TTG: “We are hoteliers since 1897 and this year marks the 120th anniversary of our prestigious Kempinski brand. Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea and Kempinski Hotel Aqaba Red Sea joined the rest of the Kempinski hotels around the world in celebrating this special event with their loyal guests and employees on April 8, 2017.

“It was a great evening, during which we commemorated our rich European origin and heritage, and shared our plans for a long-lasting future of luxurious hospitality complemented by our prestigious history,” he concluded.
