Oman’s Mina Al Sultan Qaboos port (MaSQ) will celebrate the opening of its Discovery Centre in the third quarter of 2019, which is being developed by DAMAC International.
Situated on the southern end of the Muttrah Corniche, MaSQ Discovery Centre is currently in the midst of being outfitted. Adjacent to the historical port, the centre is the first visible structure in the transformation of MaSQ, which is evolving into a modern waterfront destination.
Granting its visitors stunning views of the Gulf of Oman, the MaSQ Discovery Centre will be home to an Omani restaurant operated by Bait Al Luban, which will serve delicious fresh seafood.
Vice president for international development, DAMAC, Wael Al Lawati commented on the project: “We look forward to welcoming our neighbours to discover our shared future, as we showcase our pride in the rich history of the port to our guests from around the world. Having redefined urban development in the Middle East, our support in this landmark project was an obvious fit and underlines our ongoing commitment to the development of this region across market segments.”
The development of MaSQ forms part of Oman’s National Strategy for Tourism 2040, led by Muttrah Tourism Development Company, a joint venture between OMRAN and DAMAC. Since this alliance was formed, extensive project planning for Muttrah (the district surrounding MASQ) has been undertaken.
A prequalification tender for the project’s construction works, consisting of phased residential, hotel and retail development, recently went public and qualified contractors were invited to contribute to the transformation of the historical port into a two-billion-dollar integrated waterfront destination, comprising charming public areas and entertainment.
