Dubai International (DXB) recorded 7.2 million passenger arrivals during September, with year-to-date traffic rising to 67.5 million.
The results marked the sixth time that the hub’s monthly traffic exceeds the seven million mark, thus finishing off Q3 with 23.8 million passengers.
Smart Gate technology at DXB, which helps speed customers through immigration, contributed to a reduction of 28 per cent in wait times during September.
India remained DXB’s top destination country by customer volume, with total traffic reaching 957,748 during the month. The UK followed with 538,199 customers, as well as Saudi Arabia with 454,929 customers. Other notable markets include Australia (256,848), the US (252,264) and China (208,822).
The top three cities were London (329,778 customers), Mumbai (199,829) and New Delhi (170,122).
During September, the fastest growing regions were North America, up by 15.2 per cent, Africa, up 10.9 per cent, and the CIS, increasing by 6.8 per cent.
