Emirates Airline scooped the ‘Best Entertainment’ award at the recent 2020 APEX Passenger Choice Awards for the third consecutive time.
The Dubai-based carrier also acquired a Five-Star Global Airline Official Airline Rating, which is the highest rating in the first airline rating programme, based solely on verified and certified passenger feedback.
Emirates Airline secured these awards due to its innovations in inflight entertainment. The airline was the first to install TV screens in every seat in 1992, as well as the first carrier to allow its passengers to create and sync bespoke entertainment playlists via its mobile app (introduced last year).
‘ice’, Emirates’ inflight entertainment system, boasts more than 4,500 channels, including over 1,000 films. Passengers across all classes can enjoy the largest screens in the industry at 13.3 inches for economy class, 23 inches for business class and 32 inches in first class.
Adding to this, Emirates Airline has been investing to provide connectivity and Live TV for its customers. More than 176 Emirates aircraft are equipped with Live TV and at any time 70,000 passengers can be watching global sporting events live at 40,000 feet. A number of live international news channels are also available, including CNN, BBC World News, Sky News, Euro News, CNBC and NHK World.
Elevating the inflight experience for all, WiFi connectivity is available on all of Emirates Airline’s aircraft. Customers in all cabin classes receive 20MB of free WiFi data or unlimited use of messaging apps for two hours, while Emirates Skywards members enjoy special benefits depending on their membership tier and class of travel, including free WiFi when travelling in first class or business class.
