On a mission to boost capacity on its popular routes, Etihad Airways has announced that its second daily Abu Dhabi–New York JFK service will be adopting the larger Airbus A380 aircraft, replacing its Boeing 777-300ER.
Now, all 14 weekly flights between the two cities are operated by the state-of-the-art double-decker aircraft, providing more seats and added comfort.
The UAE carrier originally launched daily nonstop services to New York JFK in October 2006 and adopted a second daily service in March 2014. Etihad Airways proceeded to upgrade one of its daily services to an A380 aircraft in November 2015.
Enthusing on the development was CEO, Etihad Airways, Peter Baumgartner: “The response we have received from our guests travelling between Abu Dhabi and New York since we first launched the A380 service two years ago has been phenomenal. We are delighted to further expand our world-leading product to all guests flying to and from the Big Apple.
“By introducing the A380 on the second daily service, we can ensure that every flight delivers the acclaimed service and hospitality, innovative products and technology for which we have become known the world over,” he concluded.
