flydubai has officially launched daily flights to Krabi in Thailand, making it the very first UAE-based carrier to connect to the popular holiday hotspot.
The daily flights are operated via a short stop in Yangon, Myanmar, and are codeshared with Emirates Airline.
Enthusing on the development was senior vice president, commercial operations – UAE, GCC, Subcontinent and Africa, flydubai, Sudhir Sreedharan: “We are delighted to mark the inaugural of our new route to Krabi and to see our network grow further East. Over the past ten years we have shown our commitment to opening up underserved markets and enabling millions of passengers to travel to more places more often. This new route will present more travel options for passengers from the UAE and beyond, while giving people from Thailand direct access to Dubai’s travel hub.”
Also commenting was director, Krabi Airport, Attaporn Nuang-udom: “The opening of the new route is a great opportunity to promote and facilitate the connection between Thailand and the Middle East. Also, it is a good chance to enhance tourism in Southern Thailand.”
Krabi is very popular destination among travellers yearning for a beach getaway. The destination is home to picturesque limestone cliffs, dense mangrove forests and the famous Phi Phi Island, while thrilling activities such as diving, hiking or exploring the Huay Toh Waterfall in Phanom Bencha National Park await visitors.
Director, Dubai and Middle East Office, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Pichaya Saisaengchan remarked: “We are pleased with flydubai’s launch of its new route to Krabi, which is illustrative of the UAE being the most comprehensive market for inbound tourism from the Middle East, as well as the largest. Last year, Thailand welcomed nearly 200,000 visitors from the UAE, both Emiratis and residents, and we anticipate that the new flydubai route will further enhance visitor numbers between the two countries.”
