Mondrian Doha has welcomed Wael Maatouk, a Canadian national with Lebanese roots, as general manager.
Maatouk previously served as the general manager for Sharq Village & Spa and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Qatar. He assumes his new challenge with more than 20 years of experience and a record of success. In his most recent role, he managed an important transition of rebranding and re-positioning a hotel to become the first LXR hotel in the world for the new Luxury Collection under the Hilton Corporation.
In his new capacity, Maatouk will work to develop new policies, strategically implement new initiatives and coordinate staff in all departments, while adhering to regulatory requirements.
Maatouk enthused on his appointment: “I am honoured to have the opportunity to continue leading Mondrian Doha on its path to providing locals and travellers with the ultimate ‘One Thousand and One Nights’ experience, an ancient story of fables where the limits of escapism is only in the imagination. My experience has equipped me with a holistic approach towards providing a renowned lifestyle experience to hotel guests. I am excited to join the sbe family and manage its first hotel in the Middle East. With sbe holding a pioneering position in the lifestyle hospitality realm, I will ensure that our service continues to be at the highest level of international standards. I am dedicated to leading by example and bringing Mondrian Doha the latest innovation in hospitality.”
Maatouk, who is fluent in French, English and Arabic, started his hospitality journey as an F&B professional in Beirut. He then moved to Montreal where he pursued his higher education and acquired a Master of Business Administration in Leadership and Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Hotel and Restaurant Management and a Diploma in Hotel Management and Culinary Art.
