General manager, Sharq Village & Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Wael Maatouk

Sharq Village & Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel recently appointed Wael Maatouk as its new general manager.

Maatouk, a Canadian national with Lebanese roots, will take charge of all aspects of the luxury resort’s operations, including financial performance, guest engagement, employee development and brand recognition.

Boasting 20 years of hospitality experience, he began his early career as a food and beverage professional in the hospitality industry. Uncovering a passion for management and the hospitality industry, he pursued several levels of education from a Culinary Art Diploma to a Hospitality Management Diploma, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management. He has recently completed an Executive MBA.

Prior his new position at Sharq Village & Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Maatouk served as hotel manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh, where he formed part of the opening team and was responsible for the management of daily operations.

He also previously held the title of executive assistant manager of F&B at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai, and has worked in several counties including Egypt, Canada and Oman prior to joining Sharq Village & Spa as assistant director of food and beverage in 2007.
