Deutsche Hospitality’s Steigenberger Hotel Doha has appointed Sherief Abouelmagd as general manager.
Abouelmagd will now oversee the operations of the hotel, focusing on devising and implementing optimum strategies to maximise profitability. He will lead the management team to cement the hotel’s core objective, which is to deliver excellent guest experiences.
Abouelmagd assumes his new position with over 30 years of hospitality experience across the USA and MENA region. He started his hospitality journey with Marriott Hotels International in the USA, where he held several managerial positions in a number of states. He opened and managed his first two hotels as general manager at Courtyard by Marriott in 1997–1999 in North and South Carolina.
Abouelmagd then continued his successful career as deputy general manager for the Cairo Marriott Hotel and Casino, one of the largest Marriott properties with 1,250 rooms and multiple restaurants and ballrooms. Following this stint, he held several senior level positions with reputable international hotel chains, including Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Movenpick Hotels and Resorts, Melia Hotels International and Shaza Hotels, opening and managing several properties in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Tunisia, Oman and Doha.
Abouelmagd, an American-Egyptian native, led the launch of the iconic Mysk Muscat in 2017, a brand managed under the Shaza Flag, as well as the opening and managing of the Shaza Makkah Hotel in 2018.
