Under the auspices of the recently-signed declaration of Greece and Turkey to cooperate in the tourism sector, Greece National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) has revealed that the relevant promotional activities have commenced.
The agreement was signed by Acting Minister of Economic Development and Tourism, Elena Kountoura and her Turkish counterpart, Mahir Ünal in Izmir during the fourth High Council of Cooperation Greece-Turkey, according to GNTO.
GNTO’s Turkey office, in cooperation with the Thessaloniki Hotels’ Union and the Proathoniko Tourism Organisation, have organised a familiarisation trip to Thessaloniki and the pre Athos region of Halkidiki from April 12-15.
The aim of this trip, in which leading Turkish tour operators are taking part, is the attraction of quality visitors and Turkish cultural travellers to specific regions and by extension, the development and evolution of the touristic and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Further afield, in Russia, GNTO has announced that over the course of this week, from April 12-17, in south Russia and in line with ‘Year of Greece’ in Russia, and ‘Year of Russia’ in Greece 2016, an exhibition promoting Greece is being held in Kuban, Russia.
The event came about as a result of meetings with Acting Minister of Tourism, Greece, Eleni Kountoura and general secretary, GNTO, Demetris Tryphonopoulou in Moscow with Deputy Culture Minister, Russia, Alla Yurievna Manilova and head of Rustourism, Oleg Safonov last March.
The exhibition, dubbed ‘Week of Greece in Kuban’, commenced in Russia’s Krasnodar and is organised by the Periphery of South Russia with the participation of GNTO Russia.
