InterContinental Cairo Citystars, Holiday Inn Cairo Citystars and Staybridge Suites Cairo Citystars recently saw the graduation of 180 students from the IHG Academy.
Graduates received their certificates after completing a two-month training programme in different hotel sections. The traineeship programme included practical on-job training in the front office, food and beverage, kitchen, finance, human resources and information technology departments.
IHG Academy is a global programme under which InterContinental Hotels Group’s (IHG) hotels ally with community and educational institutions in their own country to give people a real-world hospitality experience. This raises job skills and creates local economic opportunity around hotels, while simultaneously creating a pipeline of prepared and engaged potential recruits.
The overall aim is to help students learn the basics of hospitality and tourism through on job trainings, which prepare them for professional competition and enriches the labor market with skilled individuals.
General manager, InterContinental Cairo Citystars, and area general manager – Egypt, IHG, Dieter Franke commented: “IHG Academy aims to help local calibers build their hospitality skills and improve their employability, we are very proud of our role in serving the community through preparing potential hospitality professionals.”
