INTERVIEW: General manager, Arabian Adventures, Samir Mehta

Arabian Adventures

Arabian Adventures, known for offering is clients personalised service and true Arabian hospitality, is an experienced tours and safaris operator in the region. Speaking to TTG exclusively, the company’s general manager, Samir Mehta, shares his thoughts and opinions on Dubai’s tourism performance, as well as Arabian Adventure’s developments.

TTG: What are some noteworthy market trends you have picked up on this past year?
We have seen growth in the number of visitors from markets in South Asia and the Far East in 2019. This complements the number of visitors from traditional source markets such as Europe, the UK and Australia.

TTG: What’s currently on high demand?
The classic must-see landmarks, such as the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Dubai Frame and The Dubai Mall, remain popular with visitors. New areas such as The Pointe on The Palm Jumeriah are in demand and the Arabian Adventures Modern Dubai City Tour itinerary has been updated to include a visit to The Pointe for its wonderful skyline photo opportunities.

Travel Forward 20

In Traditional Dubai, the Gold and Spice Souks, as well as the Dubai Museum, remain popular. The Arabian Adventures Traditional Dubai City Tour has always included stops at these landmarks, and we see continued strong demand for these tours.

TTG: What exciting tourism-related projects are lined up for 2020 and what is your forecast for the upcoming year?
At Arabian Adventures we are busy with an exciting project to further enhance the experience at our desert safari camps, located inside the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. A desert safari remains an ever-popular experience in Dubai and we would like to offer our guests a truly memorable experience with a regional food menu and multiple forms of entertainment throughout the evening, in a setting of warm Arabian hospitality.

On our Premium Sundowner Safari, guests will have the option to drive through the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve to our new unique camp in adventure-customised Jeep Wranglers and enjoy a premium experience. At sunset, a stop at a picturesque majlis with served beverages will underline the high level of quality and service that can be expected on this authentic desert safari.

We continue to expand our partner network in source markets both through partner agreements and through our group businesses, including Destination Asia.

TTG: Where do you wish to take your company in 2020 and the years to follow?
As part of the Emirates Group, we are committed to promoting destination Dubai and continuously adapting to our customers and their needs. Today, we see visitors who are on a repeat visit to Dubai and who seek something different – more adventurous and more personalised experiences.

We are working on a number of areas to match our offering and technology innovation to meet our customers’ needs. We recognise that Dubai is a preferred destination for both leisure and business travellers, and we are developing our product and service offering in both areas.

TTG: What final preparations are you undertaking for the grand inauguration of Expo 2020?
At Arabian Adventures we are extremely excited ahead of EXPO2020. We are working closely with EXPO2020 to identify and promote a tailor-made proposition to our global leisure, incentive and cruise partners.

Within the Emirates Group, we are also engaging with multiple stakeholders to attract and service significantly larger number of visitors for this great event.
