The charming seaside town of Larnaca, Cyprus, is gearing up for major international hospitality expansion.
Just this week it was announced that the town will be welcoming InterContinental Hotels Group’s (IHG) Indigo brand at the end of 2019, representing the first of its kind in Cyprus . This exciting new project will be developed through a collaboration between IHG, Sunnyseeker Hotels and Quality Group.
The new, high-quality tourist accommodation falls in line with the Larnaca Tourism Board’s efforts to preserve the town’s character and identity through the use of listed buildings, as the hotel combines the development of an old house with a new building.
IHG will be the third international hotel chain to be announced in Larnaca in quick succession, following the arrival of Radisson Blu and Best Western.
Meanwhile, the Larnaca Tourism Board has expressed its satisfaction with increased investment and interest from international hotel chains.
Over the last three years, a total of nine units have begun operating within the Larnaca District, which have contributed a total of 614 beds to the town’s room count. Its most recent edition was the Hai Hotel, located in the Laiki Neighbourhood, which expertly combines an old building with a new one.
Looking ahead to 2020, at least seven new properties are anticipated in Larnaca, including the Radisson Beach Resort Larnaca, Solaar Boutique Hotel & Spa, Samirana Boutique Hotel, Alexia City Hotel, Hotel Indigo Cyprus – Larnaca and Executive Residency Zenon by Best Western.
