Lausanne Tourism has finalised two cooperation agreements with Kanoo Travel and Dnata, in a bid to promote the destination’s touristic opportunities and travel packages within the GCC region.
The new double partnership enables Lausanne Tourism to reach millions of GCC residents through effective marketing strategies and online tools. With numerous world-class events scheduled for 2019 in the vibrant city, and the addition of a versatile variety of sights and activities, the partnerships present an ideal opportunity to gain exposure.
The signings were finalised during a promotional tour headlined by the Swiss Tourism Authority, where a delegation from the country visited the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
Director – GCC markets, Lausanne Tourism, Walter Loser stressed the importance of the GCC market, explaining that it was one of the most crucial sectors for Lausanne Tourism. He revealed that last year alone, a 15 per cent increase in the number of tourists visiting from the region was recorded, which is anticipated to further increase following the new agreements and from the influx of targeted, family-friendly packages.
Loser said: “We expect a significant rise in the number of tourists from the GCC region, especially considering that the Holy Month of Ramadan falls early this year in May. This coincides with summer in Lausanne, also the most idyllic time to visit the city considering the pleasant temperatures and the bustling streets teeming with activities and programmes perfect for those across all age groups.”
During the aforementioned tour, the Lausanne delegation had the opportunity to meet with more than 180 travel agents and tour operators to discuss multiple strategies for tourism packages crafted with the GCC family in mind. The tour started in Dubai and took them across Ras Al Khaimah, Oman, Jeddah and Riyadh.
