Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) recently revealed that Saudi travellers to Mauritius increased 137 per cent in January 2020 compared to the corresponding month in 2019.
This now makes the KSA the ninth top market for Mauritius and the number one ranked Arab country for tourism arrivals to the Indian Ocean island.
The significant rise in numbers comes as a result of promotional and marketing activities in the Kingdom, which have raised awareness of Mauritius as the perfect option for Saudi honeymooners and families yearning for luxury experiences. Visitors can make the most of a plethora of family attractions, exceptional Halal dining options, water activities, year-round adventures and a Muslim-friendly atmosphere.
Saudi Arabia’s top travel agents are promoting Mauritius as a year-round luxury destination. Saudi travellers are do not need a visa to cross the Mauritian borders, and ensuring seamless connectivity to the paradise island, Saudi Airlines offers direct services.
In March 2020, MTPA aims to ramp up its marketing activities with a roadshow, scheduled to stop off in the country’s key cities. MTPA will host B2B workshop with face-to-face meetings between Saudi Arabian Buyers and MTPA partners, highlighting what the island has to offer to the discerning Saudi traveller.
