On a mission to ensure the safety of travellers and airline staff, Russia’s Moscow Domodedovo Airport has introduced an aircraft disinfection service for its airline partners.
Prior to this development, the disinfection service was provided only by third parties.
Those conducting the disinfection use a hospital-grade disinfectant, which complies with the recommendations of Russia’s consumer protection watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor. The procedure takes approximately 15-20 minutes to disinfect a Boeing 737 or an Airbus 320 aircraft.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport follows strict guidelines on sanitation in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All public spaces and vehicles are regularly disinfected, and the airport employs digital displays and announcements to remind passengers to wear PPE, such as facemasks and gloves.
Adding to this, the terminal, as well as airport buses, boast special markings to ensure social distancing, and all airport employees are regularly tested.
