Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has announced Olivier Chavy as the company’s new CEO, who will take over the leadership from Jean-Gabriel Pérès in September 2016.
Chavy, who boasts a 28-year track record in hotel operations and brand management, brings forth a solid operating experience in hotel openings spanning three continents.
He has previously served as the international head, global brand performance of luxury and lifestyle brands for Hilton Worldwide. His experience in brand building and development in the hospitality industry led him to his most recent role as president and CEO of Wilson Associates, a global interior architectural design firm.
Enthusing on the news of Chavy’s appointment was chairman, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Jürgen Fischer: “We are delighted to welcome Olivier to Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. Olivier will continue to drive value for Mövenpick’s shareholders, hotel ownership partners, employees and guests alike. I am sure that Olivier will propel the company into the next chapter of growth, building on the impressive, existing development pipeline, which will allow us to grow Mövenpick’s network to more than 100 upscale, full-service hotels in the very near future.”
Meanwhile, Chavy declared: “I am thrilled to be joining the leadership team at Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts and to be representing this venerable Swiss brand. In accepting this role, I look forward to driving the next phase of growth for the company with the support of the Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts board, the expertise of the management team and the strong relationships with our business partners.”
Chavy received his Masters in Business Administration from Cornell University, a postgraduate diploma from ESSEC Business School and a BA in Hotel Management from Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Hotel Management School in France. He is a dual citizen of the US and France, and is fluent in French, English and German.
Jean-Gabriel Pérès, whose departure was announced early in the year, will support the transition in leadership to Chavy.
