Launched in partnership with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), Abu Dhabi Airports has opened a new Isolation Rooms unit at Abu Dhabi International Airport, which will act as a medical facility.
Designed to boost precautious and preventive processes at the airport, the new facility meets the needs of passengers suspected of carrying communicable diseases, ensuring the safety of other passengers and the effective management of potential epidemics.
At the official launch of the Isolation Rooms unit, acting chief operations officer, Abu Dhabi Airports, Ahmed Juma Al Shamisi declared: “The health, wellbeing and comfort of our passengers are among our top priorities at Abu Dhabi Airports. With this new facility we look forward to being able to provide the highest standards of care to those who need it, while also ensuring the health and safety of everyone travelling through AUH.”
Also commenting was executive director of facilities and maintenance, SEHA, Eng. Mohammed Hassan Al Zaabi: “In line with the direction from Abu Dhabi Government to enhance health services in Abu Dhabi, as well as the overall health of residents, with the support of the Department of Health and in coordination with Abu Dhabi Airports, SEHA has designed the new facility and the related infrastructure in accordance with the latest systems internationally. The new facility is located in Terminal 1 and consists of three isolation rooms, an assessment room, a reception, two waiting areas, a security room and additional support rooms.”
He further explained that as the airport is an entry point to the UAE, it is important to ensure its readiness when suspecting any case, by taking all the needed procedures to assess the concerned health case and isolate and treat as required.
Operating the new facility will be the Ambulatory Healthcare Services, with the aim being to eliminate the risk of infectious diseases entering the UAE.
The brand-new Isolation Rooms unit comprises special standalone isolation systems; a separate air conditioning system; mechanical and electrical equipment; drainage; an exhaust; a water supply, a fire alarm; and other specialised equipment.
