Following an alliance between Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) and RAK Hospital, international visitors staying in and departing from Ras Al Khaimah are now entitled to free PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing until December 31, 2020.
The free testing, which is subsidised by RAKTDA, will take place at RAK Hospital, one of the UAE’s most renowned private hospitals, and RAK Medical Centre in Al Hamra Mall.
Ras Al Khaimah is now the first global destination to offer free PCR testing to its international guests, while earlier on in 2020, it also became the first city in the world to be certified as safe by Bureau Veritas and the first Emirate to receive the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Safe Travels Stamp.
Eager to stay ahead of the pandemic and keep tourism going, Ras Al Khaimah additionally offered free COVID-19 PCR testing to hospitality staff across the Emirate’s hotels.
CEO, RAKTDA, Raki Phillips commented on the development: “It is with great pleasure that we announce the complementary test for international visitors, as this effort will put in place an added element of safety – both for the guests staying within our properties, as well as our hospitality providers and their staff.”
Phillips continued: “As travel corridors begin to open up, we will continue to incorporate and implement global best practices into our efforts to safeguard against the spread of the pandemic. This initiative comes at a perfect time as we move towards the cooler months of the year into the ‘Winter sun’ season, encouraging all visitors to experience all that the destination has to offer, from the striking Jebal Jais mountain peak, pristine beaches to cultural and archeological explorations.”
