Ramada Plaza Jumeirah Beach recently promoted its restaurant manager, Andrea Apala to food and beverage operations manager and its sous chef, Prashan Perera, to executive sous chef.
Apala was previously in charge of Fogueira, one of the property’s signature restaurants. In her new capacity, she will be assisting the head of the food and beverage department with the day-to-day operations of all restaurants, as well as the planning and forecasting.
A Brazilian native, Apala boasts 14 years of experience within the hospitality industry and holds a Bachelors of Hotel Management degree from Hotel Management College, SENAC, Sao Paulo. Throughout her career she has held numerous positions in restaurants and hotels in both the UAE and Brazil.
Under her guidance, Fogueira Restaurant has been highly successful, having even participated in Dubai Food Festival’s first ever Restaurant Week.
Moving on, Perera joined the hotel in 2012 as sous chef, and prior to this, gained experience at notable hotels spanning Dubai. With more than two decades of experience in the culinary field in both the UAE and his native Sri Lanka, Perera has acquired a number of awards in recognition of his skills. He also scooped 14 medals along with his team from the Emirates Culinary Guild, the UAE.
As executive sous chef, Perera will be in charge of the entire kitchen operations, including the hotel’s six restaurants as well as room service.
