Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has elevated its tourism offering by certifying 21 new tour guides, who will inform the ever-increasing frequency of tourists of Ras Al Khaimah’s charming cultural offering.
In order to be certified, the guides underwent a six-day training course at Hilton Garden Inn, Ras Al Khaimah. All participants had to pass a final exam before being licensed to carry out tour guide responsibilities.
Of the 21 newly certified tour guides, three are Emiratis, who represent various government entities spanning the emirate. During their tours, they will bring to life the rich tribal history of the destination, while shedding light on the historical and cultural experiences on offer.
The tour guides will be eligible to join tourism focused organisations and companies that operate cultural experiences for visitors, such as city tours, heritage site tours and wider sightseeing.
CEO, RAKTDA, Haitham Mattar declared: “Ras Al Khaimah offers a rustic historical and cultural experience with more and more tourists looking to discover authentic Arabia when they visit. To meet this demand, it’s important for us to strengthen our team of tour guides and we’re delighted that three of our national residents have chosen to be part of this scheme.
“Their insight and passion will not only help us to showcase the Emirate’s rich culture and heritage but bring to life these historic sites with unique first hand cultural knowledge, helping us attract our target of one million tourists by the end of this year,” he concluded.
