Southern California’s Orange County welcomed a record-breaking 50.16 million visitors in 2018, according to figures released by Orange County Visitors Association (OCVA), representing a jump of 1.6 per cent on 2017.
Regarding visitor spending, the new tally is 4.2 per cent more than 2017 levels, with spend from Middle Eastern visitors ranking eighth amongst international guests.
Having been present in Dubai for five years this month, the OCVA Dubai office has been busy with promotional events and industry meetings to further promote the unique destination to Middle Eastern markets.
President and CEO, OCVA, Ed Fuller explained: “Visitors from the Middle East travel to Orange County California knowing they will be provided with a warm welcome and one-of-a-kind experiences. OCVA is constantly working to build unique value-added packages for visitors from the Middle East, while extending our offering and reputation as a world-class destination.”
Fuller attended the Arabian Travel Market 2019 earlier on in the year where he participated as a panelist at the Halal Travel Summit, providing updates on what the Orange County travel industry is doing to enhance the offering for Muslim and Middle Eastern guests. During the event, OCVA promoted the destination as a prime choice for Arabic and Halal cuisine in Southern California, highlighting the Little Arabia District in Anaheim with its various ethnic markets, Halal butcher shops, restaurants and cafes. Orange County California is currently home to 11 registered Halal restaurants, and this number is expected to grow in the near future.
Orange County is an ideal place for family travellers and is home to the original Disneyland. This month, the iconic theme park is set to open the very first Star Wars themed area, spanning 14 acres.
Adding to this, the destination is home to 42 miles of coastline, some of North America’s most celebrated beach resorts and the country’s finest shopping experiences, which can expertly cater to the needs of high-end travellers. Private yachting experiences off the Orange County coast are extremely popular choices among visitors, as are the many family-focused vintage and classic care fairs.
