The Red Sea Project: Base Camp marks start of enabling works

The Red Sea Project

Marking the official start of an exciting new tourism project, The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC) has begun its operations at the Base Camp of The Red Sea Project in Saudi Arabia.

The Base Camp represents first of numerous enabling works to be carried out this year, which will provide the essential infrastructure for the luxury project. These works will additionally entail temporary roads, bridge, jetties, utilities, workforce accommodation and a Management Village, which will work to support the development of the luxury tourism destination.

The camp is currently home to 60 people, including project and construction managers, health, safety and environmental professionals, government affairs specialists, among others, who will live and work on site. The Base Camp boasts prayer, dining, gym, medical and other amenities, while solar-powered water heaters will provide hot water.

CEO, TRSDC, John Pagano commented on the development: “This is an important milestone for The Red Sea Project and takes us another step closer to our goal of creating a truly exquisite tourism destination on the beautiful Red Sea coast. The remote nature of the site, which is an important part of its appeal as a destination, creates logistical challenges for the support of large-scale development. The Base Camp is an essential first step in preparing the destination for construction.”
