Throughout Khareef season in Oman, Salalah Rotana Resort recorded an impressive surge in guest arrivals for the period July-September, 2015.
The five-star property opened its arms to more than 25,000 guests – a 40 per cent jump compared to the corresponding period in 2014.
Most guests to the resort hailed from the GCC countries, and at the top of the list were Omani nationals who represented 66 per cent of guests. The UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain closely followed, representing 34 per cent of guests.
Enthusing on the numbers was general manager, Salalah Rotana Resort, Hossam Kamal: “We had good pick up this year during the Khareef season resulting in impressive results compared to last year. Prior to the start of the Khareef season, we published a ‘Discover Khareef Travel Guide’ on our website aimed to give potential visitors an idea of what the destination offers’.
“Our guests from other GCC countries love the destination for its cooler climate, natural beauty, unrivalled scenery and the outdoor activities available during the Khareef season,” Kamal added.
Adding to this, the resort also welcomed travellers to the region by participating at the Traveller Oasis, an initiative led by Oman’s Ministry of Tourism which offered a full range of tourist services for long-distance travellers arriving into Salalah during the Khareef season.
The resort operated a daily welcome desk where guests could book to stay at the resort or ask for more information about the resort’s facilities as well as the local attractions within Salalah.
This year, Salalah welcomed heightened numbers of tourists due to the opening of the brand new Salalah Airport, which is expected to serve one million passengers each year. With expansion plans in the pipeline for the travel hub, a further jump in arrivals into the region is anticipated.
