Having recorded 3,000 downloads already since its launch a week ago, The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) has launched the Seychelles Travel Guide Smartphone app, in an effort to improve the way visitors view the destination.
The guide provides a key to all the activities, attractions, accommodation and tourism services of the archipelago and is a key component to navigating the various tourism products and services. The app, which is available as a free download from the Google Play Store for Android and IOS devices, can be used offline as Internet is only needed for the initial download.
“This app is the result of the hard work of the e-marketing department of the island’s Tourism Board which has contributed towards this extremely useful tool which is destined to revolutionise the way our visitors interact with everything the islands have to offer,” explained Minister for Tourism & Culture, Alain St. Ange.
The features of the Seychelles Travel Guide app include a directory of over 1,000 tourism-related services and detailed maps which are all available offline. An augmented reality feature enables users to search for listings in real time with built-in GPS navigation.
According to manager of the e-marketing department, STB, Vahid Jacob, the app also allows users to view reviews and ratings of other travellers as well as leaving their own.
CEO, STB, Sherin Francis added: “This will be an invaluable addition to our arsenal of promotional tools and visitors are sure to appreciate this new level of clever interaction with the destination.”
