Sharjah Light Festival concludes on successful note

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) wrapped up the seventh annual Sharjah Light Festival with a celebratory event at the University City Hall on February 11, 2017.

The event welcomed high-profile attendees, including chairman, Sharjah Media Corporation and chairman, Sharjah Media Centre, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi; chairperson, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi; and chairman, SCTDA, HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa.

Speaking at the ceremony, Al Midfa declared: “The Sharjah Light Festival is one of the cultural achievements that adds to the development and renaissance movement launched by HH Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

“We are proud of the cultural advances that Sharjah has made – these successes put us on par with the world’s leading countries,” he added.

The seventh annual Sharjah Light Festival covered 14 locations across the emirate, including University City Hall, Cultural Palace, Al Noor Mosque, Al Taqwa Mosque, Al Qasba, Palm Oasis, Khalid Lagoon and the Corniche.

The 10-day festival drew in thousands of visitors eager to see the cutting edge shows, featuring 3D technology designed by renowned artists, emphasising the architectural appeal of Sharjah’s monuments and landmarks.

The festival was attended by numerous regional and international media representatives, including 25 international media delegates from India, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Armenia.
