Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas unveils plans for Six Senses Fort Barwara in India

Six Senses Fort Barwara

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, in partnership with Espire Group, has shed light on its second heritage property, Six Senses Fort Barwara, which is located in the village of Chauth ka Barwara in Rajasthan, India.

Scheduled to open in late 2018, the property stands on the site of a 700-year-old fort, which was once owned by the Rajasthani Royal Family. It sits directly opposite the temple Chauth ka Barwara Mandir.

A highly qualified team of conservation experts are currently in the midst of working to protect the original fort structure, maintaining its original charm and aesthetics.

Spanning 5.5 acres, the site is surrounded by an imposing 1.5m thick rock wall, which stands six metres high in some areas. Within the historic fort stand three buildings that are being preserved and restored, while outside the fort, the property faces the local village to the west and protected land that will be reforested to the east.

President, Six Senses, Bernhard Bohnenberger enthused on the project: “We are very excited to be working with Espire Group, our partner, on this wonderful project. This is the perfect complement to our resort portfolio which includes highly successful properties in China, Maldives, Oman, Portugal, Seychelles, Thailand and Vietnam.

“Six Senses Fort Barwara marks the second heritage property that Six Senses will manage. Using exquisite aesthetics and creative ingenuity, Six Senses Douro Valley in Portugal offers a fresh design perspective that beautifully showcases its locality. The historic quinta (wine estate) has a rich history dating back to 1464 and we are taking a similar approach with the beautiful Fort Barwara project,” he added.

As well as 48 beautiful suites, Six Senses Fort Barwara will be home to two restaurants, a bar and lounge, a 2,800m2 spa and fitness centre, two swimming pools, banqueting space, a retail boutique and a kids’ club.

The large Six Senses Spa will feature an extensive ayurveda programme, meditation and Six Senses Integrated Wellness programmes, including Six Senses Integrated Wellness and Sleep with Six Senses.
