In recent years, the Maldives has proven popular among visitors hailing from the Arabian Gulf, with a total of 41,976 tourists from the Middle East having visited in 2015. Throughout the year Saudi Arabia sent 15,749 visitors to the destination, while 7,322 visitors came from UAE and 4,492 visitors hailed from Kuwait, according tourism statistics.
