Set to woo visitors from the GCC region, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, will be celebrating the launch of The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort on November 1 of this year.

In recent years, the Maldives has proven popular among visitors hailing from the Arabian Gulf, with a total of 41,976 tourists from the Middle East having visited in 2015. Throughout the year Saudi Arabia sent 15,749 visitors to the destination, while 7,322 visitors came from UAE and 4,492 visitors hailed from Kuwait, according tourism statistics.

General manager, The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, Mark O’Sullivan remarked: “The Maldives is a high demand destination for the Middle East, with more than six flights arriving daily to the Maldives from the Arabian Gulf.
