Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has formalised an agreement with Saudi Real Estate Company (Al-Akaria) for two brand new hotels in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, bringing back the Westin brand to the country, while marking the debut of the Group’s Element brand.
The Westin Riyadh and Element Riyadh, scheduled to open in 2022, will collectively offer 632 rooms and will form part of a mix-use development in the vicinity of the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), in the heart of Riyadh, which will also feature over 4,000m2 of retail space
President, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East, Michael Wale remarked: “Saudi Arabia remains one of our strongest growth markets in the region and we are thrilled to be strengthening our presence in the country with two new hotels together with Al-Akaria.

We are on track to more than double our presence in Saudi Arabia in the next five years and continue to further explore growth opportunities across the country.”
The Westin Riyadh, boasting 388 rooms and serviced apartments, will offer its guests the brand’s signature amenities and services, including the Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Bath experience. Leisure facilities will include the WestinWORKOUT fitness studio, a swimming pool and the Heavenly Spa, while guests can avail four F&B outlets.
Moving on, Element Riyadh will offer a fresh interpretation of the traditional hotel experience with natural light, a modern design, healthy options and eco-minded sensibilities. The hotel will be home to 244 spacious studios and one- and two-bedroom suites, with fully equipped kitchens, the signature Heavenly Bed and spa-inspired bathrooms. The hotel will also feature an all-day dining outlet and guests will be granted access to all leisure facilities at the Westin Riyadh.
