TAV Construction was recently awarded a $1.1 billion tender for the construction of Bahrain International Airport’s brand new terminal building and affiliated works.
The project is planned to be completed in 51 months. TAV Construction will begin the project this March with its partner, Arabtec.
Group president & CEO, TAV, Sani Şener enthused on the news: “Since the Istanbul Ataturk Airport project in 2000, we will have built a total of 16 airports in the Middle East and North Africa region – seven of them are the gateways of the capital cities of their respective countries. We are proud to be announced as the preferred bidder and to add Bahrain Airport to our portfolio, which includes ongoing projects in the UAE, Oman and the KSA.
“TAV Construction has been named at the top globally by Engineering News Record for the last two consecutive years. We’ll employ our extensive expertise at the Bahrain Airport project and continue contributing to the development of the GCC region,” Şener added.
This newly awarded contract covers construction of terminal building which is to have a capacity of 14 million passengers as well as construction of main service building, air and land side infrastructure works, and multi-storey car park.
